A Message from Principal Guerra:
With eight days of school under our belt I think it’s safe to say that we are off to a great start! Teachers and students are spending time learning routines and procedures in the classrooms and each location in the building. We are setting the foundation for an orderly, safe and independent learning environment for students. It is critical that we spend our first days doing this work to ensure our students know what we expect and can take charge of their learning. Learning in a physically and emotionally safe environment is an important element of a child’s education. Our staff continue to greet and welcome students at the car, bus, and classroom doors to build relationships and community. Have you asked your child how they feel about Brookside School? I hope they say it's a joyful and supportive place filled with adults that care deeply for them and have high expectations for their learning goals this year. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher at any time. We are here in service of your child and we can’t do our job without you!
Arrival & Dismissal:
Please hang your car tag on your rearview mirror when picking up your child by car to help us move the process along! It’s getting better by the day.
Morning drop off is from 8:35-8:55. Staff will begin their day at 8:55 so we will not have staff in the back lot past 8:55. If you are dropping your child off between 8:55 and 9:00 you must use the front entrance and sign them in with the security guard. 9:00 is the late bell
We’ve moved dismissal up a few minutes to try and combat the traffic and length of time for dismissal. We will begin dismissing at 3:00. Dismissal in the back lot will end at 3:30 as that is the end of the school day for staff. We are seeing a pattern of parents waiting to come pick up students until 3:30 pm and it’s too late. Please plan to arrive for dismissal no later than 3:25 so we can get your child loaded and off no later than 3:30. The line is getting faster as students are re-learning and learning their car tag numbers and route to their dismissal location. Thanks for your help on this matter.
